Be Part of a Flashy, Radiant Community Photo Event!

The Kodak Tower will be the subject of Rochester Institute of Technology’s 32nd Big Shot on Sept. 18, and MCC’s new Downtown Campus will be included in the spotlight.

The Big Shot is a community photo project that celebrates photography and relies on the participation of community volunteers to light the subject of the photo while RIT photographers capture the image.

The Big Shot is scheduled rain or shine from 8:00 to 8:10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, near the Kodak Tower, 343 State Street.

Big Shot participants will light up the Kodak Tower using flashlights or other hand-held light sources. Volunteers are asked to meet at the corner of State Street and Morrie Silver Way by 7:30 p.m., dress in dark clothing, and bring a flashlight or a camera flash unit.

MCC employees, students and volunteers who have a Kodak connection are also invited to bring along a photo of a current, former or retired Kodak employee to be used as props. Instructions will be given on site.

We need two MCC volunteers from 7:00 to 7:45 p.m. to staff a table and distribute Big Shot informational cards and commemorative MCC-branded mini flashlights. Individuals interested in helping at the table are asked to email <mailto:marcom@monroecc.edu> by Friday, Sept. 9.

The nighttime image will encompass the State Street side of our new campus, with the campus’s terrace being a feature. MCC students and employees, current and former Kodak employees, and Kodak retirees are encouraged to come out and join in on the fun.

Free parking is available in High Falls Garage and in the Kodak parking lot at State Street and Morrie Silver Way. State Street traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m..

MCC is a partner with RIT’s School of Photographic Arts and Sciences in the planning of this event.
