“Cultivating a Growth Mindset.” Teaching & Creativity Center’s Theme for 2016-17

As you’ve perhaps heard, the Teaching & Creativity Center’s theme for 2016-17 is “Cultivating a Growth Mindset.” But just what is a "Growth Mindset"?

In her commentary, “Carol Dweck Revisits the 'Growth Mindset'”, Dweck explains that she and her colleagues “found that students’ mindsets — how they perceive their abilities — played a key role in their motivation and achievement, and we found that if we changed students’ mindsets, we could boost their achievement. More precisely, students who believed their intelligence could be developed (a growth mindset) outperformed those who believed their intelligence was fixed (a fixed mindset).”

Yes! That’s what “Growth Mindset” is about. Thanks, Carol!

Please join us -– your MCC TCC (Teaching and Creativity Center) Brighton and Damon colleagues –- as we explore the concept of “Growth Mindset” throughout this year.
