Mentors in Violence Prevention "Train the Trainers"

MCC’s Mentors in Violence Prevention Program (MVP-MCC) is hosting our spring 2015 “Train the Trainers” on March 19-20-21, 2015 from 8:45am-5:00pm.   Lead trainers will be Michael Johnson (Student Services) and myself.  Founded by anti-violence educator, Dr. Jackson Katz, this free three-day training empowers participants to peacefully intervene when witnessing bullying, harassment and potential violence.  MVP is the leading gender violence prevention curriculum in the U.S. military, professional, college and high school sports, and law enforcement trainings in the U.S. and globally.

MVP-MCC is infused into Criminal Justice, English, Psychology, Sociology, Speech Communications and other coursework, as well as into co- and extra-curricular events.  We also offer a competitive full year academic scholarship sponsored by the MCC Foundation.  MCC is one of just three schools– and the ONLY community college – to offer this valuable professional development credential, and we have over 150 students, staff, faculty, administrators and community leaders who have earned it thus far.

We may have openings, so we invite those interested to contact me ASAP if interested in our spring Training and/or in the future .  Attached is our information sheet and tentative agenda, and we will provide breakfast.

We look forward to having you join us!
