The Sociology Film Series Presents: Sicko

Thursday, May 8th at 6pm in 5-100 Michael Moore’s film, Sicko, investigates the American health care system, focusing on the for-profit health insurance and pharmaceutical industry. The film compares the non-universal, for-profit U.S. system with the universal, non-profit systems of Canada, the United Kingdom, France & Cuba. Sicko is a straightfrom-the-heart portrait of the crazy and sometimes cruel U.S. health care system, told from the vantage of everyday people faced with extraordinary and bizarre challenges in their quest for basic health coverage.

The film is free and open to the MCC community and the public. Light refreshments will be served. Sponsored by the Anthropology/History/Political Science/Sociology Department. For information contact: Bethany Gizzi (bgizzi@monroecc.edu or 292-3284).
