Cyber Criminals Stealing Your Data from Browsers

Technology Support recommends that you clear your browsers of saved data, such as passwords, credit card numbers, and other information that is populated when you fill out forms. The most common browsers include Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Edge, and Safari.

Data saved in your web browser are prime targets for harvesting by cyber criminals if your computer gets infected with malware. In addition to web browsers, other tools such as "Remember Me" and "Keep me Logged In" are also not secure.

Do not store your MCC password in a browser.

If you wish to remove saved passwords and data from your browser, and adjust your browser settings so that that data is not saved anymore, please see the attached document below, "Removing Saved Passwords from Your Browser." The document has instructions for Internet Explorer, Edge, Firefox and Chrome. If you need assistance removing passwords from your browser on your MCC computer/laptop, please call Technical Support at 292-TECH (8324), option 3. Technical Support does not support home computers.
