For Professors: New Electronic Option for Sending Accommodated Tests

In the past year, Testing Services has provided proctoring for 3,358 exams for students with testing accommodations.

With a few exceptions, that means that we have used over 3,000 testing envelopes in a year.

This is a great deal of waste to generate for a certified "Green Office."

We do, however, have other options. Testing Services uses a web-based program called Registerblast to manage testing appointments. There is a "Professor" module embedded in this service. The Professor module allows faculty to create an account within Registerblast. From that account, you can upload any documents that are necessary for Testing Services to proctor a particular test. There is also space for you to include all of the information that is currently on the envelopes. In addition, Professors are able to schedule tests for their students through this module. This is especially helpful when it is important that the student take the test at the same time as his or her classmates.

During the Spring 2019 semester, Testing Services partnered with a group of professors who generously volunteered to be part of a "Paperless Pilot" for testing. We learned a lot about what worked and what didn't work, and now we are ready to expand this program.

Here's what faculty members had to say about the pilot:

"I had a very positive experience using the paperless testing and never had to print out the exams as I graded them on my tablet and returned them to my students electronically. The process also allowed me to obtain the students exams more readily and when students signed up last minute, it was also very easy for me to send the materials to your office electronically."

"I loved it! Very efficient process."

If you are interested in trying this new process of sending and receiving accommodated tests electronically, please reach to out SSDTesting@monroecc.edu, or give me a call at 292-2293. I'd be happy to walk you through the process.

If you're not sure this system will work for you, don't worry! The envelope method of test delivery is still a viable option.
