COVID-19 Vaccinations

SUNY and MCC encourage you to get vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to the start of the fall semester on Aug. 26 to protect your health and safety. Visit SUNY’s Know Your Vax site to learn more.

Per New York state guidance, and pending approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, a COVID-19 vaccination will become mandatory for all SUNY students who take in-person classes. The timing of this requirement is yet to be determined. At that point, the COVID-19 vaccination would be treated like all other student immunization requirements and may require additional verification steps. A “compliance window” will be determined should the vaccine become mandatory after the start of the fall semester.

Employees are not required to have a COVID-19 vaccination and will have the option to voluntarily submit verification of vaccination to MCC’s Human Resources Office in August.

  • You are considered fully vaccinated: (1) two weeks after receiving the second dose in a two-dose COVID-19 series or (2) two weeks after receiving a single dose vaccine.
  • Students are asked to upload verification of vaccination (screenshot of vaccine card) through the MCC Student Health Services Portal. Contact the Health Services Office (585-292-2018 or email Health Services) for more information.
  • Fully vaccinated students and employees who have submitted verification of vaccination are not required to participate in weekly COVID-19 testing.
  • At this time, there is no need to submit a letter to be exempt from verifying vaccination for medical or religious purposes.
  • Students who are not vaccinated will be required to participate in weekly pooled testing, continue to wear a mask, utilize good hand-washing, and maintain social distancing on campus, as required.
  • Employees are welcomed to participate in pooled testing regardless of vaccination status.
