A teleconference: TEACHING, LEARNING & ASSESSMENT WITH E-PORTFOLIOS

On Thursday, October 24, 2002, from 1:45 to 4:00 p.m., ETS will be sponsoring
the teleconference Teaching, Learning & Assessment with E-Portfolios, at the
Brighton Campus in Room 3-172. Randy Rezabek, Coordinator, Instructional
Design, will introduce the program. Following the telecast Frances Dearing,
Coordinator, Assessment, will conduct a brief wraparound session.

Hear e-portfolio pioneers discuss the teaching and learning issues associated
with e-portfolios. Why do we need e-portfolios? What are the pedagogical
benefits? What should the content standards be? How can we use our
understanding of prior efforts to avoid some of the pitfalls in e-portfolio
development?

Learn about the challenges of e-portfolios in higher education. What are the
key challenges in moving from paper transcripts to those that include
e-portfolios? How can e-portfolios be integrated into existing evaluation
process? What are the short and long-term policy implications of e-portfolios?

For those unable to attend the teleconference, a video copy will be available
for a one-month period in the Brighton Library on Reserve following the
teleconference. For those at the Damon City Campus interested in viewing the
videotape of the teleconference, please contact the DCC Library and
arrangements will be made for the video to be shipped from the Brighton Library
to the DCC Library for pickup.
