Award-Winning Author Linda Sue Park Debuts Book About MCC Alumnus

Be a part of the world premiere of celebrated local author Linda Sue Park’s newest book, A Long Walk to Water, on Monday, December 6!  Based on a true story, Park’s latest title offers a stunning account of Sudan, ravaged by civil wars, and a young Lost Boy who surpassed all odds to wind up here at MCC: Salva Dut.  Salva’s successes include the creation of Water for Sudan, Inc., a Rochester-based non-profit organization that saves lives in Southern Sudan by drilling clean water wells.  From the frightened but brave eleven-year-old boy revealed in Park’s new book to one of our inductees into MCC’s Alumni Hall of Fame in 2008, Salva demonstrates true heroism and he is the very best of MCC.  His story of survival is the stuff of legend, and Park’s stark depiction of it is poignant and gripping.

Don’t miss out on this phenomenal opportunity to hear Linda Sue Park (winner of the 2002 Newbery Award for A Single Shard), celebrate the richness of Rochester’s local talent, and witness this unprecedented event!  Book-signings will follow both of Park’s presentations, and a portion of all sales will be donated directly to Water for Sudan.  Stock up, share a host of inspiring stories with family and friends during the holidays, and save lives in the process!
