The Leroy V. Good Library (Brighton campus) is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a lecture Monday, November 12, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Imam Muhammad Shafiq will lecture on “Koranic Perspectives on Interfaith Dialogue.” The lecture will be held on the fourth floor of the library, outside of room 2-452.

Imam Shafiq heads the Islamic Center of Rochester, leading more than 500 local Muslim families. He also serves as Executive Director of the Center for Interfaith Studies and Dialogue at Nazareth College, which “promotes research and encourages strategies for living peacefully in a religiously diverse world.” Dr. Shafiq is a well-known member of the Rochester community, promoting peace through regular speaking engagements, including his collaborations with Bishop Matthew Clark, and publishing editorial pieces in local newspapers. Dr. Shafiq was born in Pakistan and was awarded an M.A. and Ph.D from Temple University.

Dr. Shafiq’s lecture at MCC will address interfaith respect and understanding as well as the directives on the subject in the Koran. Please join us for what will certainly be an enlightening event presented by a highly respected member of the local community.
