Update from the MCC Board of Trustees Meeting


The MCC Board of Trustees took the following actions at yesterday’s meeting:

*Accepted the interim financial reports as of May 31 and June 30, 2009.
*Authorized the purchase of items over $10,000 for the months of May and June 2009.
*Transferred funds between internal accounts.
*Approved the appointment of Darrell Jachim-Moore as assistant vice president, Administrative Services, effective Aug. 3, 2009.
*Approved the appointment of Joan Mullaney as chair of the Human Services Department for the 2009-10 academic year.
*Approved the promotions of named adjunct faculty, effective Sept. 1, 2009. (See related Tribune announcement)
*Approved the promotions of named, non-rank individuals, effective Sept. 1, 2009. (See related Tribune announcement)
*Approved a one-year unpaid leave, for Maria Kendig per Article 18 of the Faculty Association contract.
*Approved the retirement of Anthony Caiazza from the Human Services Department, effective Aug. 31, 2009.
*Approved the appointment of the following faculty to emeritus status: to Professor Emeritus, Kathleen Bromley, Business Administration/Economics; Thomas Fittipaldi, Visual and Performing Arts; and Rick Kuempel, Chemistry and Geosciences; to Associate Professor Emeritus, Carol Irvine, Visual and Performing Arts.
*Approved the salaries of non-contract administrators, effective Sept. 1, 2009 through Aug. 31, 2010.
*Approved the reappointments and salaries of Vice Presidents, effective Sept. 1, 2009 through Aug. 31, 2010.
*Elected board officers: Kenneth Goode, chair; John Bartolotta, vice chair; and Nancy Price, Secretary.
*Approved a board of trustees meeting calendar for 2010.
*Approved a resolution renaming the Child Care Center the Richard M. Guon Child Care Center.

As an information item to the board, General Counsel Diane Cecero reported that in the lawsuit Filozof vs. Monroe Community College, the jury found for the college.

President Kress reported to the board that internal discussions are underway regarding site criteria for a new downtown campus, now that Renaissance Square has been declared dead. College officials are reviewing past assessments, the President is talking with many stakeholders and the college hopes to move forward expeditiously. President Emeritus Flynn attended the meeting and was thanked for his many years of service on this project.
