World Refugee Day Film and Panel Discussion


To commemorate World Refugee Day 2007, a showing of the documentary film "Rain in a Dry Land" and a panel discussion will be offered next Wednesday, June 20 at 6:45 pm in the Flynn Campus Center Forum (3-130). The event, entitled "A New Home, A New Life, is co-sponsored by the Holocaust Genocide Studies Project at MCC, Rochester Committee on Refugee Resettlement (RCORR), Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester City School District, and the Catholic Family Center.

The film follows two Somali Bantu families through the resettlement process -- from a refugee camp in Kenya through their first 18 months in America. Following the film, two refugees and two service providers will discuss the challenges encountered and the resources available in the Rochester community.

RCORR is a community-based committee interestd in the short- and lon-term needs of refugees settling in the Greater Rochester Area.

This event is free and open to the public.
