Point of Dispensing Exercise

MCC, in conjunction with the Monroe County Department of Public Health, conducted a state-evaluated Point of Dispensing (POD) Full Scale Exercise on January 9, 2015. This exercise was put together to demonstrate and reinforce our response to a public health emergency involving the need for mass distribution of medicine. The POD itself was modular based with sections including registration, triage, and a dispensing area for simulated medication (in the form of candy). Many of these positions were staffed by employees of the College. Many MCC students were involved by becoming patients in the POD.

I am pleased to report that the exercise was very successful and accomplished each goal set for a reactionary response within set time boundaries. Approximately 637 individuals were recorded as patients through the POD within a 2 hour exercise time frame. All exercise participants and patients should be commended for being involved in such a worthwhile event.

Emergency management exercises and safety drills will continue in the future as an effort to keep you safe while at MCC. Your participation is always welcome and very much appreciated.

Attached is a photo of some of the Monroe County Department of Public Health and MCC Employees that took part in the recent exercise.
