Cybersecurity Awareness Month

October was Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Although it is over, we cannot afford to let our guard down the rest of the year.

Did you know that since the start of the 2019 spring semester, there have been 199 incidents related to spam/phishing/malware/viruses called into Technology Support by employees? That's nearly 20 each month. In cases where malware was loaded, employees were unable to use their computer, and some lost files when their PC had to be replaced. According to Verizon's 2018 Breach Investigations report, 92% of malware is delivered by email.

How do you avoid getting caught? Simply delete suspicious emails!

There is no need to call the Technology Support help desk or to forward phishing emails to the "spamsubmission" email account as long as you have not clicked on a link or attachment. Just delete it.

If you have clicked on a real phishing email and if infects your PC, then call the Technology Support team at 292-TECH.

Thank you to those of you who have taken your KnowBe4 training. We are currently 40% complete.
