Learn-to-Swim Camp Now Offers Saturday Morning Sessions

The Maverick Aquatic Club at Monroe Community College has expanded its Learn-to-Swim Camp to include Saturday mornings in addition to its Sunday afternoon sessions. The first Saturday session will run Oct. 9 through Nov. 13, 2004. All sessions are held at the MCC Pool, in Building 10 on the Brighton Campus, 1000 East Henrietta Road. Registration is on first come, first served basis. For more information and/or to register, please call the Maverick Aquatic Club line at x2866.

Sessions are organized into five skill levels and are led by Maverick swim coach Jamie Baxter. Each session runs approximately one hour and is tailored to meet the needs of individual swimmers. Six sessions cost between $30 - $45 based on skill level; discounts available for families with three or more children. Sunday sessions run from September through December.

The Learn-to-Swim Camp was established in 1997 and is directed by Mary Ellen Dunning, an experienced swim and water safety instructor for over 20 years. The camp offers group and private lessons for preschoolers through adults. Pre-school classes orient new swimmers to the aquatic environment—creating a sound environment for aquatic education. Other classes build upon skills learned in previous levels an offer an opportunity to practice water safety skills. Private lessons are also available.
