Holiday Break Email Upgrades

Over the holiday break, ETS staff will migrate the faculty and staff email system to Microsoft Exchange 2013.

This technology upgrade allows the college to operate on the latest generation hardware and software platform and offer the highest level of service to the college.

Some of the benefits of Exchange 2013 include:

1         Enhanced Performance and Reliability - the platform is faster, more resilient and more secure than ever before.

2         Refinements to Outlook Web App - new Web App functions whether Outlook is accessed from a web browser, a smart phone or a tablet.

3         Enhanced Connectivity Options - MCC Email from any Internet-connected device running Microsoft Outlook without the use of a VPN connection.

4         Hundreds of New Features - new integration options will allow us to provide a rich, collaborative messaging environment.

What Does This Mean For You?

Users should not experience any major impact from this planned service migration.  Outlook will redirect users into the new system as their mailboxes are migrated during the Holiday Break; both phones and cell phones).  Outlook may notify you that your administrator has made a change that requires you to close and re-open the program, and you may experience some brief periods of lost connectivity during the process.  As always, if you experience any issues we suggest that you reboot your PC/device as a first step toward restoring functionality.

Timing

Service cut-over will begin at the close of business on 12/24/2013, and mailbox migrations will take place all throughout the Holiday Break week.  If you experience any issues after the college re-opens on January 2, 2014, please contact Technical Support at 292-8324,(option 3 then 1).
