Developments at Kodak; What it Means for Our Downtown Campus

Yesterday’s news regarding Kodak’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy may have you wondering about the implications for our new downtown campus. With our partners at Monroe County, we have researched the potential impact of bankruptcy on the acquisition of the Kodak buildings and feel confident that by following the prescribed bankruptcy processes, the acquisition would be completed as planned. Additionally, I am in regular contact with Kodak representatives and can assure you that they remain committed to the sale as well.

This development does not change the recommendation made by MCC's Board of Trustees and does not stop our work with Monroe County to acquire the buildings proposed for our new downtown campus. The State Street location was selected because it offers our students the best opportunity to succeed and we will continue our efforts to create the learning environment they deserve.

Certainly, like all Rochesterians, the bankruptcy news saddens us, but we also believe in Kodak’s future and look forward to the company emerging from this process even stronger.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or Pete Otero, executive dean of the Damon City Campus.

Thank you.
