6th Annual Winter Teaching Institute--Register Today!

Wednesday, January 18, 2017

9 am – 1:30 pm with continental breakfast and lunch included

Brighton Campus**  8-200

This event is co-sponsored by the Teaching & Creativity Center and the Education and Human Services Department.  We invite all faculty members (full-time and adjunct) from all departments at all MCC campuses and centers to join us for an exciting and informative half-day of professional development.  Our sessions will focus on teaching, and participants will walk away with something new to try in class.

We will have several dynamic workshops on the following topics:

--Bash the Winter Blues:  Fostering Achievement in Your Classroom

--Reacting to the Past: An Experiential Introduction

--Start with a Story: Incorporating Case Studies in the Classroom

--Discussing the Craft of Teaching in a Deep and Meaningful Way

--Writing Matters: Designing WR-Courses in an Age of Redesign

--Summer Institutes in Action

--Build Your Teaching Toolkit: Interactive Formative Assessment Tools

Workshop descriptions can be found in the attached document.  This program was filled to capacity last year, so please register soon!  We always do our best to accommodate our participants’ session preferences in the order they are received.  Please register by January 6th:

We look forward to seeing you on January 18th!

Feel free to email Rick Costanza <mailto:rcostanza@monroecc.edu>  or Gena Merliss <mailto:emerliss@monroecc.edu>  with any questions

**Typically, the Winter Teaching Institute is held at the Damon City Campus.  But, because DCC is in a transitional phase preparing for the move to the New Downtown Campus (NDC), we will be on the Brighton Campus this year.  Next year’s event will be at the new campus.
