MCC Alumni Hall of Fame Inductee: Hassan Jones '92


The Monroe Community College Foundation’s Alumni Council has selected four outstanding alumni as the newest members of the MCC Alumni Hall of Fame. Jodi Oriel ’93, Hassan Jones ‘92, Gary Squires ’76 and Clayton Turner ‘86 will be inducted into the MCC Alumni Hall of Fame at the MCC Foundation’s 21st annual Salute of Excellence dinner on Thursday, Nov. 18, at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.

Hassan is the head of the Harley Middle School. He worked previously with the Rochester City and Greece Central school districts. In addition to his professional leadership, Hassan has been active in the community working with such agencies as Action for a Better Community, American Red Cross and Rochester Housing Authority. He is a member of the Leadership Rochester Class of 2009 and he sits on the Board of Directors of Church of Love Faith Center. Hassan is also a member of the Theta Omicron Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity which is an organization involved in various community activities. He has been recognized as one of Democrat and Chronicle’s Rochester’s Emerging African American Leaders and he is the recipient of the Golden Pen Award.

After graduating from MCC, Hassan earned his bachelor of science degree in history and a master of science degree in elementary education at The College at Brockport. He also earned a master of science degree in educational administration at Canisius College.

Hassan was nominated by Interdisciplinary Programs Dean Carol Adams and Student Support Services Director Patricia Kennedy.

The MCC Alumni Hall of Fame was established in 1992 to honor the outstanding achievements of MCC graduates. There are currently 67 members of the hall of fame.
