MCC Among Local Colleges to Discuss Restart Plan for Fall 2020 in RBJ Cover Article

In the Aug. 14 issue of the Rochester Business Journal, MCC was among area colleges and universities that described their restart plans for the fall semester. The article, "Local colleges cautiously optimistic," quoted Interim President Katherine "Kate" Douglas on her thoughts as MCC's reopening nears. She also discussed one of the challenges in the restart planning process and how the College continued keeping the campus community engaged.

On tackling any challenge that may arise as a result of the pandemic impacting all higher ed institutions:
-- "We transform people's lives. The work we are doing is important and we will figure this out."

On MCC's restart planning process:
-- "It's one thing to keep up with the changes, and another to figure out how to communicate them." Dr. Douglas said the opportunities for her to keep the campus community informed included virtual town hall meetings with faculty and staff as well as an additional meeting with students and their families. "We are slowly and carefully taking steps to help them walk back to some semblance of normal."
