Rochester STEML Celebration and MCC STEP Science Bowl

Everyone is invited to a celebration of minority youth in science - this Saturday in the Damon City Campus Atrium from 9am to 4pm.

Come take part in an event that not only celebrates science, but also celebrates the commitment MCC has to working with historically underserved youth in the community.  This Saturday's schedule includes guest speakers, a Haudenosaunee dance group, and the MCC STEP Science Bowl which has students travelling in from Albany and Buffalo to participate.  See the schedule below.

The Rochester Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Medicine, and Licensed Professions (STEML) Celebration is part of the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Science & Technology Entry Program (STEP) and the Collegiate Science & Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) in New York State.  STEP and CSTEP are grant-based programs funded by the New York State Department of Education. Each is focused on providing services to students from traditionally underrepresented and underserved groups seeking enrichment in STEML fields.

The Rochester STEML Celebration features guest speakers, a Rochester Area College Fair, and the MCC STEP Science Bowl. The event will highlight the effects of STEP and CSTEP on the community. Five-person teams with a majority of African American, Hispanic, Native American, or female 9th-12th graders will go head to head in the Science Bowl competition. The winning team will receive an all expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C. to represent the region in the U.S. Department of Energy's National Science Bowl.
