Massage Therapy Appointments Accepted Starting Wednesday

After 18 months of education and training, massage therapy students at Monroe Community College are counting on the Rochester community -- especially MCC faculty and staff -- to help them gain the 150 hours of hands-on experience they need to earn their degrees and professional licenses.

The MCC Massage Therapy Clinic will open on Monday, Jan. 31. MCC faculty and staff members will be able to schedule appointments -- before the general public -- by sending requests via email to the Massage Therapy Clinic (send to "Massage Therapy Clinic" in Outlook or <mailto:mtclinic@monroecc.edu>) from Jan. 12 to 21 ONLY. Appointments should be made via phone 262-1470 after Jan. 24.

Faculty and staff members may schedule up to three advance appointments over the span of the first six weeks. Within your email, please include your full name, phone number (home or cell) and requested dates and times following the schedule below. Appointments may be scheduled for the following days and times from Jan. 31 through May 20:

* Monday and Wednesday evenings: 5:30 pm, 6:45 pm and 8:00 pm;
* Tuesday and Friday mornings: 10:00 a.m., 11:15 a.m. and 12:30 a.m.;
* Thursday mornings: 9:30 am; 10:45 am and noon;
* Friday evenings: 3:00 p.m., 4:15 p.m., 5:30 p.m.;
* Saturday mornings: 9:00 a.m., 10:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

MCC Massage Therapy Clinic staff will confirm appointments. Appointment requests sent via email will not be accepted after Jan. 21.

Located on the fourth floor of MCC’s Damon City Campus (228 East Main St.), the clinic is designed to provide relaxation and healing in a supervised, educational setting. Patrons will receive a 55-minute massage therapy session from a soon-to-graduate student in the MCC Massage Therapy AAS degree program for $20 per session ($10 for students with college identification; patrons must be at least 18 years of age to receive services at the clinic). All sessions are professionally supervised.

Patrons can benefit from a variety of massage techniques, including Swedish, Western and Oriental Shiatsu. In addition to relieving muscle tension and pain, massage therapy can improve one’s ability to cope with stress, enhance sleep and increase energy levels.

For more information and/or directions to the clinic, please visit "https://www.monroecc.edu" www.monroecc.edu and select Damon City Campus or Massage Therapy Clinic from the “A to Z Index.”
