Attention STEM/Applied STEM Faculty:  Looking for a new professional development opportunity?

With support from the Xerox Foundation and Academic Services, the Teaching & Creativity Center is excited to offer the second STEM/Applied STEM Institute for Faculty: Course Redesign for Active & Collaborative Learning.

The Institute, hosted on MCC’s Brighton Campus during July 27-31, 2015, is a mix of interactive workshops and work time designed to help you learn about and implement active and collaborative learning techniques.  With the help of MCC faculty coaches, you will learn new techniques, effective implementation strategies, solutions to common problems, and various assessment methods.  During the Fall 2015 semester, we will form a Faculty Learning Community to continue sharing ideas and supporting each other through implementation.  It is a great opportunity to rethink your course and collaborate with colleagues!

For this program, we invite applications from adjunct and full-time faculty members from STEM or applied STEM disciplines.  Please visit the TCC website for the Institute brochure and application form:  https://web.monroecc.edu/TCC/stories/storyReader$65

Here are a few comments from last year’s participants:

"I just loved all the hands on approaches to EVERYTHING that we were learning.”

“The institute was very well put together and I highly recommend this to any colleagues interested in bettering themselves and making themselves stronger educators."

"I have been teaching this course for over 15 years, meeting the same challenges.  This Institute has inspired me to think differently and refocus my teaching."

"The workshops were great and now I have a lot of tools that I can bring into the classroom. I have found new ways to make my course engaging and hopefully help my students become more successful.”
