Starfish News--Starfish Support is on Blackboard

Visit the Starfish Support sub tab in Blackboard

  • Now log in to Starfish on the Starfish Support tab--click Starfish Home in the blue band
  • Find out what's new in Starfish
  • Get a refresher for raising flags and awarding kudos
  • View tutorials on taking attendance and creating a calendar for student appointments

Here's a taste of how Starfish has been refined for Fall 2017

Faculty now have two choices when raising flags:

1) Use flags marked "Email Notification Only" to e-mail your concerns to the student and record them in Starfish--a great way to reinforce a conversation you have had with a student about your concern and any action items discussed.

2) Choose "Outreach Requested" to have the flag email followed up with personal outreach from the student's Success Coach or School Specialist--when you feel your student needs more support.

There are new kudos! When a student makes a good impression use Starfish to let them know. Tell them "You rock!", Thank you!" or "Great participation!". Faculty will still be able to award the original three kudos--"You're off to a great start", "Showing improvement", and "Keep up the good work".

See the full list of flags and kudos faculty can raise for ANY student at any time starting as early as the first week of classes by viewing the attached document.
