Let's Talk About It: Jewish Literature

On Tuesday, September 11, 2007, MCC Libraries hosted the inaugural book discussion in the Let's Talk About It: Jewish Literature reading and discussion series. The lively group, led by Dr. Barbara Lovenheim of MCC's English Department faculty, discussed Exodus: The Second Book of Moses, the ultimate story of Jewish longing for home. This first book, examining the theme of Between Two Worlds: Stories of Estrangement and Homecoming, watches as the Israelites wander in a vast, unfamiliar desert for decades, uncertain if all this talk of a promised land will ever turn into reality. Come join us for the next four books in the series as we read and discuss other works of the Jewish search for identity.

The next discussion is scheduled for Tuesday, October 2, 2007, and we will be discussing Lost in Translation: A Life in a New Language by Eva Hoffman. All discussions will be held in the Forum, in the Campus Center on the Brighton campus, at 6:30pm. See https://www.monroecc.edu/depts/library/LTAI/index.htm for more information.

The dates and titles for the complete series are:
