Live United - Campaign Update

On Monday MCC held its very first Volunteer Awareness and Appreciation Fair in the R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center’s Atrium.  It highlighted a variety of volunteer organizations anxious to share their causes and gain volunteers.  Many of you responded recently to the National Volunteer Month Survey telling how you make a difference in our Greater Rochester community.  One statistic from that survey is that together, MCC employees volunteer 23,322 hours each year or 64 hours each day!  Amazing!

For some though, it is very difficult to have the ability or the time to volunteer.  However, you can still make an impact if you consider making a pledge to the MCC United Way Campaign.

For example, the UW Community Fund supports a program of the Crestwood Children’s Center, Skip Generation, to support grandparents raising their grandchildren due to absent parents through group meetings, workshops and mentoring programs.

Crisis Nursery of Greater Rochester is the only organization in Rochester licensed to care for children from birth to age 18.  It provides a refuge for children in immediate need when parents or caregivers can’t care for their children due to an accident, medical emergencies, unexpected illness, domestic violence or mental health issues.  Under the care of trained staff, children are nurtured and cared for in a home-like setting while the staff works with other organizations to help the whole family or links them with support services that can help stabilize the family.

These are only two examples of how the United Way of Greater Rochester has an impact on the members of our community.

Please consider pledging and together we can LIVE UNITED!
