Academia, Industry to Discuss Value of Partnerships to Grow Local Workforce

Panelists in higher education and industry will discuss the future of the local workforce at an interactive program from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, in the Warshof Conference Center, R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center (Monroe A & B) on MCC’s Brighton Campus.

“Together We’re Better … Merging Academia and Industry for Positive Growth” will focus on how collaborations between higher education and industry can help businesses thrive and retain talent in the Greater Rochester area. Topics include results of a recent survey on Rochester area skills needs assessment and business climate. The discussion will be moderated by Bruce Peters and Diana Palotas, co-hosts of the Internet radio show “the CEO Hour.”

Featured panelists are Todd Oldham, vice president of MCC’s Economic Development and Innovative Workforce Services; Kent Gardner, chief economist and chief research officer at the Center for Governmental Research; Mike Mandina, president/CEO of Optimax and president of the Finger Lakes Advanced Manufacturers’ Enterprise; and Bob Gerace, instructor and training consultant with MCC Corporate College and adjunct professor at Rochester Institute of Technology.

A networking reception will follow. Sponsored by WCEOhq radio and MCC’s Economic Development and Innovative Workforce Services, the program is free and open to the public. Registration is encouraged: https://ceohq.wufoo.com/forms/wceohq-mcc-present-together-were-better/
