MCC Plus 50 Program

MCC recently entered the second year of a three year grant entitled the Plus 50 Completion Strategy.  It is tailored to adult learners over age 50 interested in earning a working credential to become job ready.  A major component of this program is ongoing one-on-one advisement/counseling.  Once a student indicates an interest in the Plus 50 Program, he/she is assigned an advisor.  Advisors meet with the Plus 50 students at various times throughout the semester to assist them with reaching their goals, which could include referring them to other departments for tutoring, counseling, career advisement, and other services.

Currently we have 50 students involved in the program; however, we would like to increase the number of students served by this grant and this is where faculty and staff can be very helpful.  Attached you will find a referral form listing contact information of the Plus 50 Advisory Committee members.  If you have a student who would benefit from the resources the Plus 50 Program offers, please print off the form and refer the student to one of the professionals on the list.  If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.   Thank you.
