MCC’s Rochester Parent Network has recently upgraded 292-BABY, its telephone non-emergency help line for parents and caregivers of young children.
A renewed partnership with Via Health has enhanced our phone consultation service. Parents and caregivers can now reach a pediatric nurse between 7:00 am and midnight, Monday through Saturday, and from 8:00 am until 8:00 pm on Sunday.
The recent Birth to Three awareness campaign, sponsored by the Ad Council and the Early Childhood Development Initiative, and featuring 292-BABY, has prompted a significant increase in calls. The nurses report that the increased activity has been very welcome because they truly enjoy giving immediate support to callers.
RPN President Jim Coffey says “Our original hope was that both child care providers and parents would use this service and after talking with the nurses, we’re pleased to know we are getting calls from both.”
