MCC Launches $4.3-Mil Program to Educate High School Dropouts

President Flynn will announce today a new $4.3 million three-year program that will address the community problem of students not attaining a high school diploma.

MCC was recently awarded a $350,000 planning and startup grant to replicate Gateway to College, a national dropout recovery program. MCC’s Gateway to College program will be located at the Damon City Campus.

More than 350 students (over three years) who re-enroll in the Rochester City School District will get a second chance at an education – by working toward a high school diploma while taking classes at MCC and earning college credit. The rigorous application process will match the right candidates with the program.

The announcement will take place at 11 am in DCC’s fifth floor foyer. More details on the program will be provided in an article in the November/December Campus News.
