Mark Sommer, college relations specialist, Public Affairs, was awarded a federal commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army National Guard after successfully completing Officer Candidate School on June 27 at Fort Benning, Ga. The 16-month OCS program focused heavily on the core elements of leadership development, problem solving, tactical and technical skills development and team building, among many others. Sommer is assigned to Troop E, 101st Cavalry Scouts, Geneva, N.Y., as a platoon leader.
