2+2 Transfer Pathways vs. Transfer Agreements

Different kinds of transfer agreements exist between MCC and four-year colleges. Some are general articulations that guarantee junior standing if a student earns an AS or AA degree, some are advising guides, and others like the 2+2 Transfer Pathway Advising Guides outline specific courses for the MCC degree as well as optimal transfer. MCC has transfer agreements with numerous four-year colleges & universities. Students need to apply to the four-year as they are completing their studies at MCC no matter what type of transfer agreement they are following.

What is a 2+2 Transfer Pathway?

2+2 Transfer Pathways outline optimal courses for obtaining an Associate degree from MCC and transferring to participating 4-year institutions. Each advising guide is tailored for a specific major at a specified 4-year institution with the advised GPA noted. Students apply to the 4-year college upon completion of their MCC degree knowing they have a solid foundation for a smooth transfer. Bachelor degree completion may take longer than four years depending on prerequisite courses needed, course sequencing, and/or curriculum of the 4-year college program. Some guides are listed as “2+3” because they are 5-year programs. It is acceptable to take longer than two years at MCC to complete needed coursework. With the exception of the "Competitive 2+2s," students can attend full or part-time. Some courses may not be required for the MCC degree; this may have financial aid implications. 2+2 guides should be regularly reviewed along with your Degree Works Worksheet as updates do occur.
