Meet This Year’s MCC Alumni Hall of Fame Inductees


Join the MCC Foundation in celebrating the success of the newest members of the MCC Alumni Hall of Fame: Rev. Penny Crudup ’12, Chief James W. Harrington ’80, Ms. Daniele J. Lyman-Torres ’02 and Mr. Anthony Soprano ’92. These inspiring alumni will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at the 27th annual Salute to Excellence dinner on Thursday, November 17. Following are brief descriptions of their professional achievements and the ways they support Monroe Community College and our community.

Reverend Penny Crudup ’12
Reverend Penny Crudup ’12 is a passionate motivator and a spiritual leader in our community. In her role as secretary and tenant liaison for Downtown United Presbyterian Church, she helps facilitate nearly 4,000 events each year. A SUNY Empire State Diversity Honors Scholarship recipient, Ms. Crudup’s MCC experience was enriched by her membership in the Alpha Theta Iota Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Penny is currently working toward her master’s degree at the Northeastern Seminary located on the campus of Roberts Wesleyan College.

Chief James W. Harrington ’80
Chief James W. Harrington ’80 has served our community as a member of the Gates Fire District for 43 years. A Gates resident, he joined the district as a volunteer firefighter and since has held numerous line and civil officer positions. He became the district’s first full-time fire chief in 2005, a position he has held for the past 11 years. Chief Harrington earned his associate degree in fire protection technology in 1980 from MCC and  holds a bachelor of science degree in fire service administration from Empire State College. He has given back to MCC as the college’s first full-time program coordinator for the fire protection systems program and as an adjunct instructor.

Ms. Daniele J. Lyman-Torres ’02
Ms. Daniele Lyman-Torres ’02 serves as the president and CEO of the Arc of Yates, an organization that empowers hundreds of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to lead self-directed and meaningful lives in the Finger Lakes region. Prior to joining the Arc of Yates, she served as chief operating officer for Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority, chief operating officer for Trillium Health, and has held leadership positions for United Way of Greater Rochester and Heritage Christian Services. Ms. Lyman-Torres holds an associate of science degree in liberal arts and sciences from MCC. After MCC, she earned a bachelor’s degree in organizational management and a master’s degree in strategic leadership from Roberts Wesleyan College. She is currently a doctoral candidate at St. John Fisher College in the executive leadership program.

Mr. Anthony Soprano ’92
Mr. Anthony Soprano ’92 is celebrating his 23rd year at DiMarco Constructors, LLC, a full-service general contractor and construction management company, where he is leads pre-construction activities and business development. He enjoys and appreciates staying connected to MCC through his career, having helped the college realize its vision for the Alice Holloway Young Commons, the PAC Center, and, in 2017, the new downtown facilities.Mr. Soprano earned an associate in applied science degree in police science in 1992. He is a member of Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc., a national construction industry trade association representing nearly 21,000 chapter members.

Tickets to the Salute to Excellence are available. For tickets and information, contact the MCC Foundation at x1500. The event reception will begin at 5:30 p.m.; the dinner and award ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The MCC Alumni Hall of Fame was established in 1992 to honor the outstanding achievements of MCC graduates for their professional success, service to the community, and support of MCC and the MCC Foundation. Including the newest inductees, there are 95 members of the Alumni Hall of Fame.
