A Quiet Inquisition, the Second Film in the Human Rights Film Series

The second documentary in the Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project’s Human Rights Film Series, "A Quiet Inquisition," will be screened on both campuses and is open to all in the MCC community. The film will be followed by a facilitated discussion.  A brief synopsis of the film is included, as well as a link to more information on the film.

At a public hospital in Managua, Nicaragua, an OB/GYN doctor struggles with her conscience as she contends with the harrowing implications of a new law that prevents the termination of any pregnancy, even when a  woman’s life is at stake.  As the doctor and her colleagues navigate the fears of prosecution and whether to the use medical protocols that enable them to save lives, the drama of the deadly impact of this law emerges, illuminating the reality of prohibition against the backdrop of a political, religious and historically complex national identity. 65 minutes
