MCC baseball players Brian Pullyblank (Caledonia, NY/Caledonia-Mumford) and Tom Schiller (Rochester, NY/Brighton) and softball player Alison Duff (Brockport, NY/Brockport) were named the MCC Athletes of the Week.
Pullyblank and Schiller each came up with big pitching performances over the weekend. Pullyblank earned a save in a 5-4 win over Alfred State on Thursday, then came back and pitched a complete game six-hitter to beat the Pioneers 5-2 on Saturday.
Schiller tossed a shutout against Mercyhurst North east on Sunday. The freshman allowed just one hit, one walk, and struck out eight in the 13-0 victory.
Duff had a huge week at the plate. She hit .700 (14-for-20) as the No. 1 ranked Tribunes swept three Region III doubleheaders last week. She went 4-for-7 with two runs scored and two RBIs against Mercyhurst, then followed with five hits and four runs scored against Genesee. Her biggest games came in a sweep of Herkimer CCC on Sunday. In the opener she went 3-for-5 with two home runs and seven RBIs. She then connected on two more homers and drove in four more runs in the nightcap. For the year she is batting .524 with nine home runs.
