American Sports Builders Association Honors PAC Center

The Monroe County Department of Environmental Services, Clough Harbour and Associates and MCC are among the recipients of the American Sports Builders Association (ASBA) award in the Indoor Multi-Purpose category for the PAC Center. The award marks the sixth prestigious honor for the facility.

“Accolades from prestigious organizations like the American Sports Builders Association demonstrate how Monroe County’s Green Building Policy continues to make strides and set us apart as a premier ‘green,’ sustainable and energy-efficient community,” said County Executive Maggie Brooks in a September 17 press release.  “Collaborative efforts like MCC’s PAC Center show how the County and MCC set the standard and raise the bar for environmentally-friendly and sustainable projects through innovation.”

ASBA noted the PAC Center for its environmentally-friendly design and construction. The PAC Center includes many sustainable design features including its optimal energy performance; use of renewable and green electricity; and use of recycled materials. The award will be presented at the ASBA Technical Meeting this December in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

“MCC is proud of the resource that the PAC Center has become for the community and for our students,” said President Kress. “We embrace opportunities to partner with Monroe County on innovative projects, and our collaborative building and renovation projects have created a new benchmark for environmental leadership and sustainable practice in the region.”

The PAC Center has also received several other accolades including a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) “Gold Certification” by the U.S. Green Building Council; a 2010 American Council of Engineering Companies of New York “Silver Award” for structural systems; a “High Performance Building Plaque” from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority; and 2009 American Public Works Association New York State Chapter and Genesee Valley Branch “Project of the Year” awards for structures.
