Get Off the Water Bottle

Join us in the fourth floor lounge of the Damon City Campus on Monday, October 11 during college hour to learn more about bottled water. This event is sponsored by SEGA , the Wellness Center, and DCC peer leaders.  Let’s see if we can take back the tap!  The event hopes to highlight specific facts related to bottled water; for example, it takes three times the amount of water to produce the bottle as it does to fill it up, and 40% of all bottled water is taken from municipal water sources (aka tap water).  Only one in five water bottles is recycled, leaving us with an enormous number of plastic bottles polluting the Earth.  Water is a precious resource, and we will be highlighting the need for clean drinking water around the world.  One in six people worldwide doesn’t have access to clean water.

The DCC peer leaders will be collecting donations for worldwide communities in need of clean drinking water.  Instead of buying bottled water on Monday, you can donate the dollar.  Reusable water bottles will be given away to students who stop and by and learn some bottled water facts.
