I am delighted to serve as the honorary chair of this year’s Rochester AIDS Walk, June 5, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. One of my first significant volunteer experiences was with the North Central Florida AIDS Network way back in the early 1990s, so this is a cause near to my heart. All of the funds raised will benefit people living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS in the Rochester and Finger Lakes region through the work of AIDS Care, the organization formed by the merger of AIDS Rochester and AIDS Community Health Center.
I hope you will consider joining my family that morning by forming an MCC team or walking yourself. The event also features a Paws for the Cause walk, just in case your dog (like mine) could use a bit more exercise! The walk route is through the lovely Genesee Valley Park, and I know we’re all hoping for less snow come June, which should make for a great day.
