John Nyerges, Asst. Professor in the Visual & Performing Arts Department, Was Featured Soloist

John Nyerges, asst. professor of the Music area in the Visual & Performing Arts Department, was a featured soloist on two pieces on the first half of the concert at Kodak Hall in The Eastman Theater on Friday, November 4 and Saturday, November 5 with the Rochester Philharmonic Pops Orchestra. This is his 18th year with the orchestra.

Nyerges also appeared with his Quintet at the locally prestigious "Friday Jazz at Immanuels" (Park Ave.) concert series on Friday November 18. He brought along some of his MUS 145 Small Jazz group MU01 MCC Music majors to perform as well. Nyerges' Quintet performed selections from his "Jazz, Pictures & Poems 2008"  CD to a record crowd for that event which has been going on for years. "Jazz, Pictures & Poems 2008" was favorably reviewed by Jack Garner locally when released and just recently in a review from Cadence Jazz Review (one of the top comprehensive jazz review sources in the nation) by Jerome Wilson, concluding "John Nyerges emerges from this as a formable composer and pianist who deserves wider recognition."
