The Holocaust Genocide Studies Project invites you to commemorate Yom Hashoah in the Flynn Campus Center today. Yom Hashoah is the international day of remembrance for the victims and survivors of the Holocaust. This marks the 17th year that MCC student leaders have organized a commemoration for our community.
The commemoration will begin with an opening ceremony at 9:30 am in the Flynn Campus Center Atrium, followed by a candle lighting and calling of survivor names until 2:30 pm. Local Holocaust survivors will give their testimonies in the Flynn Campus Center Forum (3-130) from 10 am to 2:30 pm. A closing ceremony at 3:30 pm in the Forum will include a prayer, tribute to local survivor Bernie Schuster and kosher refreshments.
Prepared by MCC alumni, the photographic essay "I told you, now you tell the world" will be displayed -- offering another opportunity to learn about local Holocaust survivors and reflect upon the importance of human rights then and now.
Please stop by the Flynn Campus Center and be part of this important commemoration.
