MCC student, Mohamed Elkhidir, named a 2018-2019 Vanguard Award winner

The Vanguard Award recognizes outstanding post-secondary level students who are enrolled in career technical education programs that prepare them for careers that are not traditional for their gender. Students must be nominated by a career technical education faculty or staff member, 16 finalists are asked to submit an essay discussing their interest in nontraditional occupations, and 8 award winners are selected based on their essay.

Mohamed Elkhidir, an MCC nursing student, nominated by Associate Professor Anne Vogtle, MC, RNC, was selected as one of this year's 8 award winners from a pool of almost 40 strong nominations.

A warm congratulations to Mohamed, and thank to Associate Professor Vogtle for your acknowledgment of student success. The Vanguard Award Ceremony will be held in Albany in April 2019.

The Vanguard Award is administered by the New York State Nontraditional Employment & Training (NET) Program, and the Center for Women in Government & Civil Society, and is sponsored by the New York State Education Department through a Carl D. Perkins grant.
