Campus Sustainability Day at MCC

On October 20, 2010, MCC, along with SWBR Architects, M/E Engineering, and LeChase Construction co-hosted a day-long event for Campus Sustainability Day.  The program featured a tour of MCC’s LEED Certified Gold Building, the PAC, MCC’s LEED Certified Silver Building, the Louis S. and Molly B. Wolk Center for Excellence in Nursing, the Gleason Hall of Science and Technology renovation project (anticipated to be LEED Gold), and MCC’s co-generation plant.  Presentations were given by Hezekiah Simmons, Vice President for Administrative Services, Valarie Avalone, Director of Planning and Blaine Grindle, Director of Engineering Services.  After lunch the group listened to the Society for College and University Planning’s webinar, “Empowering a Low Carbon Movement at Your Campus:  Strategies and Tools for Behavior Change, Community Engagement, and Large-Scale Transformation.”  The program concluded with a round table discussion on local campus sustainability initiatives.

Attendees at the event were from the University of Rochester, Rochester Institute of Technology, Nazareth College, Hobart and William Smith College, Finger Lakes Energy Smart Communities, Center for Environmental Information, SWBR, M/E, LeChase, and MCC.
