MCC Students Selected for Internship at Brookhaven National Laboratory

Monroe Community College students Jason Perry, Tangerine Hall and
Olusole Olaode, all from Rochester, recently took part in a summer internship
through Brookhaven National Laboratory. The students were selected based on
their grade point average and a written essay.

The U.S. Department of Energy-sponsored programs at Brookhaven are designed to
provide educational training and research experiences for academically talented
undergraduate students. Students are introduced to new software,
state-of-the-art equipment and intellectual resources present at the Upton, NY
facility.

The students began interning in June, working with technologies that encourage
them to continue in their current track of education. Olaode, for example,
worked on new software that enabled him to expand his knowledge in the
electrical engineering field. "The Brookhaven internship motivated me to
pursue a career in electrical engineering and I enjoyed all the experience that
I encountered over the summer," Olaode said.

All qualified and accepted students are given appointments for 10 weeks during
the summer term or for 16 weeks during the fall term. In addition to the
outstanding educational training and research experiences, students are paid
stipends of $300 per week.
