Summer Hours Update

In response to the many questions that have been generated by the Friday flex announcement, I wanted to provide this clarification.  As noted, employees will be permitted to flex their work schedules beginning the week of June 1, 2015.  Because we will not be allowing flex time during the week of July 4th, as that Friday is already a holiday, we are extending flex through the week of August 10, 2015.

This means that employees who choose the Friday flex schedule will begin flexing on Friday, June 5th, and begin working the longer day schedule on Monday, June 8th.

The Friday flex option will NOT be offered for the week of June 29th- July 3rd due to the 4th of July holiday.

Friday flex hours will be extended to include the week of August 10th thru 14th. The final flex Friday will be August 7th, employees will continue to work the longer hours August 10th-13th and return to their normal work schedule on Friday, August 14th.

Option One: Regular work week. Maintain regular work schedule.

Option Two: Friday flex option: Monday-Thursday longer day schedule. Four day work week, 8.75 hours or 10 hour shift in addition to a 30 minute lunch break. Flex day off is Friday. Normal operating hours of 8:45am-4:45pm must be covered.

Please remember that the ability to take flex time is dependent on whether your supervisor approves the use of flex and your department is fully staffed.  Each department should have sufficient staffing during this time to ensure that departments are fully operational throughout the summer.  When a conflict arises between the use of contractual leave time, such as vacation and other earned leave, flex time must yield and an employee’s request for flex time may be denied as a result of staffing issues caused by the use of earned vacation and other contractual leave time.
