Renaissance Square Public Workshop Set For May 20

The planners of Renaissance Square will hold a public workshop on May 20 to offer people the opportunity to review and comment on a preferred design concept.

The workshop will be held at the Riverside Convention Center between 6 and 8 p.m.  The public is welcome to come any time between those hours.

Three alternative design drawings of the concept’s façade will also be on display for people to see and critique.  Architects will once again be available to discuss the chosen layout of the project and the facades.

Public comment will help project leaders choose a preferred façade.  After the tentative façade choice is made, Renaissance Square will hold another public workshop in June to provide people an opportunity to comment further and suggest changes.

Following that session, the chosen concept and facade will be presented to the project’s board of directors on June 17.

Renaissance Square is a plan to redevelop the block of East Main Street between St. Paul Street and Clinton Avenue with a new transit center, a new Damon City Campus for Monroe Community College (MCC), and a performing arts center.

The project’s board of directors consists of representatives from Monroe County, the City of Rochester, MCC, and the Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority.  The board unanimously authorized project planning to proceed at a meeting in February.
