Denise Prohaska, Gateway to College director, and two of the program graduates were guests on “Rally Around Rochester,” a half-hour radio show that highlights local individuals or organizations that make a difference in the lives of community residents. The program aired Sunday, Nov. 7.
In the show hosted by Beth Adams Pitoniak, Denise talked about the history of the program, what it entails, how it helps students earn their high school diploma while accumulating college credits, and how students can participate. Listeners also heard success stories from Nick Nguyen, who completed Gateway in 2009 and is expected to graduate from MCC in May with an associate degree in engineering science, and Jessica Kennedy, who graduated from Gateway in 2009 and earned an associate degree in liberal arts and sciences from MCC. She is at The College at Brockport on the honors track pursuing her bachelor’s degree in psychology.
