News from the MCC Board of Trustees


The MCC Board of Trustees held its meeting in the Board Room on the Brighton Campus on Monday, June 4 and took the following actions:

1. Accepted the interim financial reports as of March 31, 2012 and April 30, 2012.

2. Authorized the purchase of items over $20,000 as listed for the months of March and April 2012.

3. Approved the schedule of tuition and fees for the fiscal year Sept. 1, 2012 through Aug. 31, 2013. Annual tuition for New York state residents is set at $3,140.

4. Authorized the removal of the College's other post-employment benefit plan (GASB 45) expense from the college's annual operating budget.

5. Approved the operating budget for the fiscal year Sept. 1, 2012 through Aug. 31, 2013 in the amount of $122,309,000.

6. Authorized Richard F. Mackey, chair of the Finance and Facilities Committee, and Kenneth G. Goode, chair of the Board of Trustees, to approve budget transfers on behalf of the Board of Trustees through the end of the budget year August 31, 2012.

7. Approved the appointment of Kristen Fragnoli as Dean, Liberal Arts.

8. Approved the retirement of Gail O. Bouk, English/Philosophy; Pamela J. Keyes, Mathematics; and Bruce Malin, Controller's Office in accordance with Article 27 of the contractual agreement between Monroe Community College and the Faculty Association.

9. Approved the retirement of James Maley, Law and Criminal Justice, in accordance with Article 50 of the contractual agreement between Monroe Community College and the Faculty Association.

10. Honored Megan M. Scott for her service on the Board of Trustees.

11. Honored the men's and women's swimming and diving teams, which were named NJCAA Non-Scholarship Champions at the NJCAA national meet in Ft. Pierce, FL.

12. Honored MCC students Kathleeen Cesareo, Maria Cutler, LIndsey Holland, Sarah Holland, Hannah Miller and Carl Nicodemus on the occasion of their recent performance at Carnegie Hall.

The Board heard from the MCC Foundation on its recent initiatives, including the news that the Xerox Foundation will be honored this fall by the Council for Resource Development for its philanthropy to MCC. Additionally, the Board viewed a video created to commemorate the College's participation in The Democracy Committment, a national initiative to encourage civic engagement among community college students.
