OAU Needs You!

Have you heard of OAU?  This is the Outdoor Activities Unlimited Club!  You know the club…they are the ones who just got back from a three day ski and snowboard trip to Whiteface and Gore Mountains, their 21st consecutive ski and snowboard trip.  They are the club that white water rafted the Class V Penobscot River in Maine; camped, kayaked, and volunteered in Acadia National Park; and watched the sunrise at the first place in the United States that the sun peeks out in the morning, Cadilac Mountain.  They are also the club that rafted the Class III-V New and Gauley Rivers in West Virginia while volunteering to clean up a historical church and railroad tracks to prepare for the towns’ historical days event. That trip also included mud races, horseback riding, swimming, and paintball!  They are crazy you say…there was the time that they went skydiving – now that IS CRAZY!

Locally this club has spent time volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House by cooking meals and raking leaves and climbing the walls at the Red Barn and Rock Ventures along with many team building events.  They hold athletic nights where the radio is turned up and they play basketball and dodgeball, enjoy some refreshments and build relationships.  They also have formed teams for the Multiple Sclerosis Walk and created and ran team building events for students at the Rochester City School District.

The list goes on of the many events, guest speakers, trip, fundraisers, and community service projects the club has completed.

The club meets on Fridays from 12-1 in 12-105.  We are looking for students who are interested in joining as well as officers.  The current officer positions open are Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.  We hope you’ll come down to a meeting and learn more about OAU.  Not only will you experience adventure, you will build relationships that will last a life time and develop your leadership skills!

If you cannot make the meetings, you can still join the club!  Check us out on org sync or stop down to the club office, 3-138A.  Nick, the Club President, is always willing to talk with you!  If you have any questions feel free to email Nick at <"mailto:nmattle1@student.monroecc.edu"> or the club advisors; Courtney Sprague at <"mailto:csprague5@monroecc.edu"> or Kristy Mooney Graves at: <"mailto:kgraves@monroecc.edu">.

We look forward to going on an adventure with you!
