Diane Shoger to Retire

Please join me in congratulating MCC Foundation Executive Director Diane Shoger who will retire after 18 years as MCC’s chief fundraiser. A nationally recognized advocate for community college advancement, Diane will continue her role until August 31, 2017 while a national search is conducted to identify her successor.

Diane’s unique expertise is in sharing MCC student stories with community philanthropists who want to make a difference through scholarships and programs. Throughout her career, Diane and her team have empowered students to earn a college credential and helped the college create high-impact learning environments that reflect actual workplace settings. Her work has made dreams come true for thousands of our students and has helped keep MCC inspiring and on the cutting edge.

She joined the Foundation in 1999 as director of development and major gifts. In this capacity, she directed two capital campaigns that raised more than $19 million to enhance MCC programs and facilities. She became the Foundation’s executive director in 2008 and is currently leading an initiative to raise $50 million to build an academic endowment and create more scholarships for students. She oversees annual and planned giving, special events, and major gifts programs that annually raise more than $5 million in support of MCC.

On national and state levels, Diane has led efforts to build awareness of the vital role philanthropy plays at MCC and the nation’s community colleges. For her breakthrough work, she received several awards, including the CASE Commonfund Institutionally Related Foundation Award in 2015. The award recognizes individuals who have made valuable contributions through best practices, distinguished service and volunteer leadership to the foundation field.

The national search will begin later this year.
