Conversations Across the Curriculum: Faculty Expectations of Student Writing

Brought to you by the Writing Across the Curriculum Committee

Are student writing assignments a part of your course offerings? Do you feel as if your students are not prepared for the levels of written communication that you expect? Are you curious about what your colleagues in other disciplines are doing to reinforce students’ writing abilities, and what problems they encounter? The Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) committee is sponsoring a forum on Thursday, March 8, from 3:30-4:50 PM in 12-207 to address these questions of faculty expectations and experiences associated with student writing, and more.

In the spirit of cross-disciplinary conversation, we will focus on the shared burden of reinforcing quality writing in all of our classes. A panel of faculty members from different departments will highlight assignments and discuss their experiences with student writing. The WAC committee extends an invitation to all faculty to join us for this conversation, so that we have a better understanding of the common ground we occupy.
